People: We once pleaded for God to send us a savior to lead us into life.

Leader: For the world would not hear the words of the prophets of old.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION O Lord, even though we know you were born in humble circumstances and your life and teachings proclaimed the importance of using all that we are and have to serve you and others, we have instead sought to focus on our own wisdom to better our own lives and situations. (moment of silent confession) Forgive us, Lord, and restore our spirits, that we might once again be your faithful servants. We pray in the name of the one who was born for us, your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen
